EP97: Cassandra Bodzak on How To Be A Lightmaker
I love a relationship that starts off with synchronicity and that is how my connection to today’s guest began. A few months ago my friend Rachel DeAlto was in town and she mentioned Cassandra Bodzak to me. A few weeks later I walk into an event and who is the first person I see? Cassandra. We sat down together at lunch, dropped in, explored all the reasons why Rachel thought we’d love each other and she was right. Today’s episode explores a lot of spiritual and energetic concepts along with health and body love. It’s a beautiful blend of the human and the soul selves. Enjoy!
About Cassandra Bodzak:
Who is she or “what’s her title”? Honestly, she has a fairly hard time with that question. Cassandra Bodzak doesn’t like defining herself. She’s LIGHT, a daughter, a friend, a mentor, a mom to a five-year-old goldfish. She’s also an author, blogger, YouTuber, TV personality, healthy cooking expert, wellness coach and meditation teacher. At the core of it all, regardless of what fancy title you want to smack on it, she helps people create a life the LIGHTS them up from inside out.
Cassandra has been there, she’s done it for herself and that’s why she’s so darn good at helping others do the same. She’s hit the lows, eaten an entire tub of raw cookie dough at 2am and then cried myself to sleep. She’s spent four hours on the treadmill to try to fill an empty void, only to collapse from exhaustion. She’s been with the guy she thought she wanted, gotten the job she thought would make everything better and still felt like something was missing. She spent years of her life simply FUNCTIONING, desperate for a better way, knowing that she had it in her to FLY but not knowing how to get my feet off the ground.
After years of disordered eating, food allergies and finally getting painfully sick in college, Cassandra learned how to FUEL herself so that she felt amazing, energized and FINALLY at home in her body. She was able to make peace with her body, love and appreciate the beautiful vessel she was given and ignite her inner light. She decided to become a certified holistic health coach through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. It was there that she studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. The school helped her hone her skills and gain the confidence to get out there and start working with people one-on-one to help them have a better relationship with food, start loving their body and changing their lives.
Once she got the food/body discussion flowing, she took on her anxiety, insecurity, stress-addiction, when life’s circumstances (a devastating break up combined with a loved one’s terminal illness) brought her to a deeper, darker place than she had ever experienced before, she found within herself a LIGHT that was dying to start shining. She found meditation through her laptop, not some fancy retreat or expensive teacher. After her “Eat, Pray, Love” moment, as she so fondly calls it, she spent an entire week in her NYC apartment, meditating, sleeping, eating, meditating more, sleeping more, meditating more and going inside in a BIG way. She totally surrendered and opened herself up for guidance. Cassandra was lead to A Course in Miracles, Abraham Hicks, her east village spirit junkie sister Gabby Bernstein and her soul sister + love pioneer Jennifer Kass. She learned through following her inner guidance, trying a bunch of different methods and discovering what worked for her. She started to see yoga in a different way, fell into the beautiful hands of Gurmukh at Golden Bridge Kundalini Yoga in NYC and let the path unfurl in front of her. It has been a glorious journey and she is learning more and more every day.
Cassandra now has the pleasure of sharing these game-changing tools with the world. She works with clients all over the world via Skype to help them bust through whatever blocks they are facing and get back into the flow of life. She mentors them from merely functioning to full blown flight. If you think one-on-one coaching might be just what you need, check out her offerings to see if she’d be a good fit! She strives to be of service in many capacities, regardless of whether or not you are one of her one-on-one clients.
