A Journey

to Sacred Embodiment
AS Seen in

Here at the School of Sacred Embodiment,

you will often hear me say, “You are love in a body.”

It’s one of my favorite things to remind people. Here’s another one – Your body is a pathway, a portal, and a temple.

I love these reminders because when you’re a woman in this society, it’s easy to forget. When you’re feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or exhausted, you’re more likely to blame your body or feel betrayed by it than to honor it.

That’s why a big part of what we do here in The School of Sacred Embodiment is guide women towards healing, joy, and liberation. This is a place where you can finally clear out the drama, trauma, chaos, and programming that’s been dominating your life and be who you really are.

Which in case you forgot already after reading the last two run-on sentences (I can’t help it! I love words!)…

You are love in a body.
Your body is a pathway, a portal, and a temple.

Why focus on Healing, Joy, and Liberation?

Talking about issues like patriarchy, misogyny, colonialism, racism, and white supremacy has rightfully risen to the forefront of our culture in recent years. It’s important to understand these overarching issues. It’s also important to understand the more nuanced wounding and impact they have on different populations.

As women, especially Western women living with an intense Judeo-Christian influence (even if you weren’t raised Christian or Jewish), acquiring at least some harmful programming about our bodies is inevitable. And I want to mention – because it’s important, crappy messaging about bodies is not exclusive to women. My expertise is in women’s experiences, so that is where I focus.

Most women are programmed to believe that our bodies and our souls are separate. This keeps us from the divine mysteries and convinces us that our bodies are objects that should be pleasing and desirable to others. Impossible standards of beauty are also programmed into women and girls. This perpetuates fatphobia and ableism.

This programming of body-soul separation makes women override their intuition and burn themselves out. It has women finding their value primarily in roles such as wives or mothers and abandoning many other wild dreams and desires outside of fulfilling those two things.

All of this programming, which again, most of us receive in some way, is responsible for slut shaming and diet culture, and would have all of us forget how sacred, unique, and miraculous EVERY woman’s body is. Regardless of shape, size, “health,” or ability.

Focusing on healing, joy, and liberation is how we undo the programming and forge a new path for younger generations.

FROM BODY-SOUL SEPARATION TO WILD SOUL WISDOM…

I want to tell you a story about healing, joy, and liberation. It begins in 2012 with a struggling personal trainer. She was working at a fancypants boutique fitness studio in the West Village of Manhattan and she was an excellent instructor. People had been lining up for her spinning, Zumba, and total body conditioning classes from NYC to Washington DC for years.

One day a person from Marie Claire caught wind of a new class she’d created and wanted her to submit a video for their website.

It felt like a big break in the making. And it would be…just not in the way she expected.

Oh hell no…

The owner of the boutique studio hired hair and makeup people and a video crew. Our trainer friend was excited.

Until they put so much makeup on her face you couldn’t see her cute lil Punky Brewster-style freckles. Then straightened her wild curls within an inch of their bouncy life and slathered on an amount of lipgloss she wouldn’t even wear to a club, let alone the gym.

Lastly, despite being in the best shape of her life – at least by societal standards (including having visible abs!!!) – they insisted on painting contour lines on her stomach.

Spoiler alert – it was me. And I got PISSED. (See the pic? I’ve always found it a bit hilarious that this is the only photo I’ve ever had from that day.)

DECISION MADE

That day something in me snapped awake. I’d been “eating clean” and exercising for years. I was actually really proud of my body. It had also taken me forever to embrace my ethnic hair and I always loved my freckles. So to have it clearly communicated that my body wasn’t good enough, and my hair and freckles weren’t welcome, really felt like *I* wasn’t welcome.

I didn’t take it personally, but I did take it seriously. This was the first of many times my Wild Soul Wisdom would speak more loudly to me than my body-soul separation programming and let me know what had to come next.

I realized that although I came from a desire to share fitness with women as a tool for empowerment, the industry was awful and it was time for me to go. Three months later I was out. I also got clear that while fitness had always been a passion of mine, it was not my purpose, and purpose was what my soul was deeply craving.

BIRTH OF THE WILD SOUL MOVEMENT

It took me another year and a half after that to fully get out of the fitness industry. In September 2013, the idea for Wild Soul Movement – a sensual and healing movement practice – came to me on a flight from LA to NYC.

By October I was beta testing the idea with a group of 60 women. By March of 2014 I received a message from a most trusted guide, “You’re here to teach women about the sacred body,” which my body responded to with what I call, “tears of truth.” Nothing had ever felt truer.

And that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.

What is Wild Soul Wisdom?

When you are part of this community, Wild Soul Wisdom is another term you’ll hear me use A LOT. It’s even the name of one our signature movement classes and I created a Healing Meditation dedicated to accessing your Wild Soul Wisdom back in 2020. It’s a School of Sacred Embodiment community fave.

Essentially it’s the combination of all the wisdom available to you through your own soul. It’s more than just intuition.

Wild Soul Wisdom includes your past lives, your Benevolent Ancestors, and what I call your “Divine Support Squad” which is made up of all the unseen divine beings of light that are in your corner.

If you want to live an aligned, loving, purposeful, and liberated life, Wild Soul Wisdom is the most valuable and robust wisdom you can possibly tap into.

KEYNOTES

AND GUEST TEACHING

If the concept popularized by Malcolm Gladwell that it takes 10,000 hours to gain mastery is true, I am a master public speaker and teacher. Probably three to four times over with 20+ years of experience. From small, intimate groups (online or in-person) to audiences over 1000, if you need a speaker or a teacher to jam on anything related to embodiment, self-love, healing, boundaries, self-trust, or courageous communication, pass me the mic. BONUS: I am also trauma-informed and culturally competent.
