This is the fourth installment in a 10-part series I did through July 26 this year called Wild Soul Summer School. The purpose is to do a more thorough exploration of some of the topics that come up most consistently on the podcast. Each of these instructional blog posts has a corresponding Facebook Live video too, which you can find at the end of this post along with links to previous sessions if you want to explore the rest of the series.
I’ve also created a step-by-step guide for you, to help implement what you learn. This week’s guide breaks down:
-How to clear your energy field and ground yourself
-How to discern what a “yes” and a “no” feel like in YOUR body
-What to do when you aren’t getting a clear “yes” or “no” and you need to make a decision soon

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT (ESPECIALLY FOR WOMEN)
The technical definition of embodiment is:
(noun) the representation or expression of something in a tangible or visible form.
The way we translate that in the Wild Soul Movement world is that embodiment means you are able to feel the feelings, sensations and signals happening in your body all the time, and interpret their wisdom. This means speaking your body’s unique language of the senses, which I’ve recently started calling your Embody Language.
Not being fluent in your embody language (or even knowing it exists) is one of the reasons many women feel disconnected from, at odds with, and even hate their bodies, and certainly don’t have a loving, positive, or accepting relationship to them.
When this is the case you miss out on one of the greatest gifts of knowing, loving, trusting and accepting yourself – DISCERNMENT.
This is a really rich subject, which is why I’ve split it into two parts. Part II will be coming in July.
REASONS WOMEN AREN’T CONNECTED TO THEIR BODIES
For some it’s because they’re mostly in their heads. This can look like being caught up in your thoughts, anxieties, fears, worries, or stressors. Or maybe you’re a very left-brain oriented person, tend to be over-analytical, or live your life ruled by logic.
Others are “hyper spiritual” (for lack of a better term) – always meditating, would rather be in other realms or communicating with other dimensions, etc.
In this post I’m addressing the overactive mind people, because I know my women and that’s mostly how they are to begin with.
There’s no need to judge yourself, this usually comes about as a form of survival, triggered by various things: traumatic event, accident, illness, miscarriage, given a message by a doctor/healer/practitioner that there is something wrong with your body, etc.
When these things happen, a natural response is to disassociate, check out and live from the neck up. When that happens, you don’t learn how to befriend or communicate with your body, which you may now associate with danger, threat, or not feeling safe.
The other major factor here is that most of us didn’t have models for sacred, loving relationships to the female body growing up.
We grew up in cultures, religions, and communities where we received messages about the female body being dangerous or tempting. From a very young age we’re exposed to objectification and sexualization before we ever have the chance to learn that our body is safe, and a genius work of art with the power to create life.
Getting into sacred relationship with your body is not a luxury, it is essential and necessary for living a full and vibrant and truthful life.
YOUR TRUTH LIVES IN YOUR BODY
Your body will always tell you the truth when your mind is not – which is often. The mind functions in the realm of judgment, ego, and all that cultural programming I just described above.
The reason that Wild Soul Movement is a spiritual, physical, metaphysical, and sensual embodiment and movement practice is to get the mind and the body synced up in a harmonious way.
The mind judges, the body discerns: the difference between the two is that discernment is simply about determining if something resonates with you or doesn’t, while judgment places value on things and labels it as right or wrong, good or bad, better than, less than, etc.
Learning your Embodiment Language helps you to begin building a more sacred, healthy, accepting and loving relationship to your body. Just like learning any other language, you need to keep practicing and communicating to become fluent.
Women are so used to ignoring their body’s language and senses- listening to your body can help you make big life decisions, alert you to dangerous situations, signal red flags, reduce worry, stress, anxiety, and fear, and create much more ease and flow in your life. The benefits are practically endless.
The best place to begin practicing is to filter yes/no questions through your body by using positive and negative statements. For a simple example:
The yes/no question might be:
Do I want eggs for breakfast?
The positive statement would be:
My body wants eggs for breakfast
The negative statement would be:
My body doesn’t want eggs for breakfast
To “filter” these statements through your body, you notice what you feel and where you feel it when you say them, then determine whether it feels like a “yes” or a “no.”
This is a very simplified explanation for learning your Embody Language to be discerning. For the full step by step process with deeper explanation, watch the video below and download the step-by-step guide here.

I love this Elizabeth. I find that this is such a common experience- and often another place of blame and shame. Thanks for the amazing resource!
Hi There, I’m trying to access your link to the ’embodiment guide’ but am finding that it’s unavailable. I feel this is such important work, and the foundation to loving oneself and creating an authentic and deeply fulfilling life….all of the items that I am working on personally, and so would love so much to be able to access this and work through at my own pace. Any help is greatly appreciated!
